Socket Weld Flanges

  • Size Limitations: Socket weld flanges are generally used for smaller sizes (up to about 4 inches or 6 inches in diameter). For larger pipes, other types of flanges like butt-weld flanges may be preferred.
  • Cost: They can be more expensive than slip-on or threaded flanges due to the additional welding required.
  • Maintenance: While the welded joint is strong, it can be more challenging to disassemble for maintenance compared to other flange types.
